Ivan Lendl had success as a coach when he was in the team of Andy Murray. But he couldn’t guide Alexander Zverev to success as within a year, they split up. Lendl had three coaching stints with three-time Grand Slam champion Murray.
When they split for the second time in 2017, Zverev hired the eight-time Grand Slam champion. As Zverev had disappointing results under the 64-year-old, during an interview, the German criticized him for not focusing much on his coaching responsibilities.
After firing Lendl, the 27-year-old started to work with David Ferrer but the partnership did not last for a long time. Zverev is currently coached by his father Alexander Zverev Sr. but the player has expressed his desire to hire former Grand Slam champion and Novak Djokovic‘s ex-coach Boris Becker.
Zverev however won’t make any changes to his entourage for the Australian Open. One thing that Zverev is unsure about the German coach is how he travels.

Zverev will join Casper Ruud and Stan Wawrinka in the tournament. ATP Gstaad will take place between July 12 and July 20, that is, just a day before the Wimbledon final.
Zverev, with two Masters 1000 titles he won in Rome and Paris, wrapped up this season as a World No. 2. Apart from the two titles, he also made it to his second Grand Slam final at the French Open but was denied his first Major following a five-set defeat to Carlos Alcaraz.
He was 69-21 on the season and was last seen in action at the semifinal of the ATP Finals where Taylor Fritz defeated him in three sets.
