Alexander Zverev’s brother Mischa Zverev has given an update about his brother’s 2024 Paris Olympics participation after his injury at Wimbledon. Alexander had had a nasty fall on his knee during his third-round match against Cameron Norrie

During the match, he had to run forward to receive a drop shot but during the process, he slid and dug his knee into the grass. While he was not in much pain then, it showed effects during his fourth-round match against Taylor Fritz. Despite taking a two-set lead, the 27-year-old could not close out the match, giving the American safe passage into the quarterfinals.

After the five-set loss, Alexander Zverev revealed that he had suffered a bone edema and a capsule tear. Bone edema is when fluid fills up the bone marrow, causing immense distress and pain to the person. On top of that, he suffered a capsule tear, which only increased pain.

If it's a fracture in the bone or a tear or whatever, then you have to look at how long it takes. But then the Olympics could be in danger

According to Mischa, Alexander is scheduled to play in his home tournament, the Hamburg Open. The ATP 500 tournament is scheduled to get underway on July 13, with the Olympics taking place after it. Depending on the diagnosis, there is a high chance that Alexander might miss the Hamburg event to recover fully for the Summer Games.

He had a good run during the grass swing, especially at Wimbledon. He was dominant in most of his matches at the Championships but failed to consolidate a solid lead against Taylor Fritz. In hindsight, the injury probably played a big part in his defeat to the American.
