Alexei Popyrin gives hilarious shoutout to his girlfriend Amy Pederick after he wins his maiden Masters title in Canada
Australian star Alexei Popyrin wished for his girlfriend Amy Pederick to be there for him when he plays at the 2024 US Open.

Alexei Popyrin scripted history on Monday as he defeated World No. 6 Andrey Rublev in the Montreal Masters final. The World No. 62 who has now jumped to No. 23, his highest ever so far in his career, beat Rublev 6-2, 6-4 to become the first Australian since Lleyton Hewitt to win an ATP Masters title. Popyrin then gave a special shoutout to his girlfriend, Amy Pederick.
He first joked that this was one of those weeks when Pederick was not traveling with him and he won a title. Popyrin then wished for his girlfriend, who is a physiotherapist and helps the Australian with his health and fitness, to be there for him when he competes at the 2024 US Open.

Meanwhile, Amy showered her love on Popyrin as she celebrated his first Masters title win on social media. She shared a story on Instagram lauding Popyrin for his achievement and wrote a beautiful caption as well.

Alexei Popyrin fell to the ground as he hit the final winner against Andrey Rublev in the final on Monday. The Australian was overwhelmed to have won his first Masters title. Popyrin then spoke about the importance of this win for him.
The 25-year-old Australian said this win meant the world for him. Popyrin then went on to claim that all the sacrifices made by everyone around him seemed worth it now.

This win was indeed a special one for Popyrin as he pulled off one of his best performances. His campaign started with a win over Tomas Machac and went uphill. The Australian ace claimed three Top 10 wins and snapped the eight-match winning streak of Washington champion Sebastian Korda en route to the title. Popyrin beat Ben Shelton, Hubert Hurkacz, and Grigor Dimitrov in his quest for the title in Canada.
