The Indiana Fever pulled off a stunning upset, defeating the top-ranked New York Liberty 83-78 at home. Rookie sensation Caitlin Clark was instrumental in the victory, making history with a triple-double which earned her widespread praise, including from her teammate Aliyah Boston.

In the post-game conference, Caitlin Clark humbly downplayed her achievement, but Boston wouldn’t let it go unnoticed. Boston publicly praised Clark with comments highlighting Clark’s remarkable night, which saw her register 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists in 38 minutes on the court.

Sabrina Ionescu gives credit to Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever after Liberty’s loss

Sabrina Ionescu, the New York Liberty star, acknowledged that the Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark had a breakthrough game, after defeating her team 83-78. Ionescu recognized that the Fever had grown significantly since their previous meetings, making it a tough matchup. 

We played Liberty basketball, but understanding, this is their Super Bowl game. We've beaten them three times this year already. We knew they were gonna come into this game really hungry, and it's tough to beat a team four times.

Despite leading the Liberty with 22 points, Ionescu credited Clark and the Fever for their impressive performance. She noted that the Fever had won six of their last ten games, showing their growing confidence. 

Clark also surpassed Ionescu’s record as the fastest rookie to reach 350 points, 150 assists, and 120 rebounds. The Fever’s victory marked a significant milestone, and they will look to extend their home win streak to six games against the Washington Mystics on Wednesday.
