Roger Federer revealed his wife almost looked away during his last Wimbledon match
Roger Federer revealed during the documentary that his wife, Mirka, almost wanted to look away during the quarterfinals loss at Wimbledon in 2022. The Swiss had won his 20th Grand Slam at the 2018 Australian Open. Despite finishing as runners-up the following year in Wimbledon, his career was ultimately heading to its end.
Between 2020 and 2022, the 42-year-old had three knee surgeries, making him play only three out of eleven Grand Slam events in the process. His most disappointing Grand Slam match was at the 2021 Wimbledon against Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinals. It was an uncharacteristic performance from the Swiss, as he made 31 unforced errors, losing the match eventually.
