Aljamain Sterling has been competing in the UFC for many years and is a decorated former bantamweight champion. Moreover, he is widely recognized for being outspoken about his opinions on fellow competitors and major controversies.

In a recent interview, Sterling spoke about TJ Dillashaw and revealed that he always had doubts about him when it came to cheating allegations. For the unversed, Aljamain Sterling fought TJ Dillashaw in 2022 and defeated the former champion while successfully defending his 135lbs title.

During the fight, Dillashaw suffered a serious shoulder injury midway through the contest, and Sterling capitalized on the situation to secure a TKO victory. In a recent interview, Sterling mentioned that landing punches on Dillashaw during that fight was the best moment of his career.

I just know he’s a cheat. He’s a lying cheat. ‘Oh no, I only got caught that time.’ Yeah, you only got caught that time. Your teammate outed you before the fight. I always heard the rumblings that he was cheating, but I couldn’t say anything until he got caught. He got caught, so now I can say everything I want to say.

Dillashaw has long been regarded as one of the most dangerous bantamweights in UFC history. Throughout his career, Dillashaw captured the gold and established himself as an elite competitor in the division. He successfully defended his title twice, further cementing his legacy as one of the most accomplished fighters at 135 pounds.

However, TJ Dillashaw’s career became heavily stained by multiple failed drug tests that shocked the mixed martial arts community worldwide. In 2019, TJ Dillashaw tested positive for EPO following his flyweight title fight and received a lengthy suspension from USADA. The United States Anti-Doping Agency handed him a two-year ban, forcing him to vacate his championship immediately thereafter.

Although he later returned to competition, critics continue questioning his legacy and accomplishments because of those violations inside the sport. Following the shoulder injury sustained in his fight, Dillashaw stepped away from competition and revealed that he struggles to lift his arms properly. According to Dillashaw, the severity of the injury has made it clear that he will not be fighting again professionally.

The winner of Evloev versus Murphy could emerge as the next legitimate title challenger in the division. Meanwhile, Aljamain Sterling has stated he is prepared to step in as a last-minute substitute if the situation demands it.
