The featherweight division just got a whole lot spicier. Undefeated Movsar Evloev responded to Aljamain Sterling’s callout. The ‘Funk Master’ issued a callout to top featherweights, including Evloev and Brian Ortega. This ignited whispers of a potential fight between two elite grapplers in the featherweight division.
The undefeated Evloev wasted no time in accepting the challenge from Sterling. He praised Aljamain Sterling for issuing a challenge for his second featherweight fight. Evloev has not fought since January and wants to fight someone who will get him closer to the title shot.

Aljamain Sterling dominated Calvin Kattar in his 145-pound featherweight debut fight. He utilized grappling techniques to secure victory and even executed a powerbomb move. On the other hand, Evloev has constantly called out champion Ilia Topuria. He asked Topuria to defend the title since the Spaniard didn’t take any damage at UFC 298.
The divisional landscape does not allow fighters like Sterling, Evloev, and Ortega to fight for the title immediately. Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway remain at the top of the pecking order. As such, Sterling and Evloev can fight each other and make a stronger case for the title shot.
Evloev’s callout represented a valuable chance to demonstrate his skills against an elite contender in the division. The undefeated Movsar Evloev boasts an impressive 18-0 record. As such, a win over Evloev could push Sterling into the title picture.
Movsar Evloev brands Aljamain Sterling a boring fighter
UFC 300 witnessed a series of thrilling bouts and remarkable displays. However, grappling exchanges often fail to captivate fight enthusiasts. Aljamain Sterling’s debut in the featherweight division was characterized by wrestling and takedowns, a style that drew criticism from Movsar Evloev himself.
Recently, Evloev took aim at Aljamain Sterling’s performance against Calvin Kattar. Expressing frustration at the label of a “boring fighter,” Evloev tweeted, using Sterling’s bout as an illustration of genuine dullness. Evloev’s tweet was not just directed at Sterling but also at the fans for constantly attacking him.

The undefeated featherweight faced criticism for his bouts against Diego Lopez and Arnold Allen. Fans criticized Evloev for hunting for the takedowns and trying to control the opponent rather than attacking with ground and pound or looking for submission. Sterling also had a similar fight against Kattar. As such, Evloev lashed out on social media for the label of a boring fighter.
