UFC 300’s Aljamain Sterling is not up for taking things in strides anymore. As a former bantamweight titleholder, Sterling has an everlasting legacy at 135 pounds. Now he’s ready to make a move on and face Calvin Kattar in his featherweight debut. Ahead of the weigh-in day, Aljo’s physique has impressed everyone.
Amongst six fighters in UFC history to hold the undisputed bantamweight gold, Aljamain Sterling lost his strap at UFC 292. Facing a fateful knockout from Sean O’Malley, Sterling had issued vital ultimatums for a possible rematch. However, with none in sight, he moved up to featherweight. Aljo desires to challenge for the featherweight title, and the path goes through Kattar.

Sterling deserved to fight for a bantamweight title rematch, but the UFC chose to book O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera. Aljo has always had a difficult weight cut to the 135-pound division. As such, the featherweight move remains permanent. The 145 division does not have many great grapplers. Hence, the move to 145 pounds would serve the ‘Funk Master’ well.
Now, officially within UFC 300’s Fight Week, promotional snaps show him beefed up for his shift to 145 pounds. A prominent reaction by MMA coverage analyst Luke Thomas (@lthomasnews) read – “The lats… Dude can take flight with wings like that.” Consequently, this isn’t the only such reaction the matter has garnered.
Fight fans react to Aljamain Sterling’s pumped imagery before UFC 300
Saturday’s UFC 300 (Pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) star-studded card boasts a lot of high-profile athletes. Ahead of this, ‘The Funk Master’ has been prepping in full force to make his move up; it has paid off. Even top bantamweight and close friend Merab Dvalishvili has remained resounding on his training methods during training montages.

Now, entering Fight Week, the Official promo shows the additional 10 pounds taking effect. Sterling looks to be in the best shape of his life. Here’s how fans have reacted to the bulking after-effect:
Some have rightfully resounded that in the age of PEDs, the fighter looks “naturally” boosted and fit for his move up. Concurrently, some expect another title shot in his future, which is not a far-fetched dream since Sterling himself said the same during UFC 300 Media Day.
Sterling and his corner are confident that preparation has commenced properly by sparring with numerous high-level featherweights. Hence, they feel he is ready to face Calvin Kattar and make a move up through the division. Come this weekend, only time will tell what’s in store for the debutant.
