Having beaten the sixth seeds the Indian duo had an advantage of confidence, going into this match. Both pair fought hard in the first game and it was close. It was mostly the Netherland pair that were in the lead in the first half of the game. However, Ponnappa and Reddy fought back to get back level in the game. Unfortunately, they could not convert as they lost the game 24-22.

The second game was domination by Selena and Cheryl as they easily won 21-12. The Indian duo seemed perplexed with no answers and errors.

A great week at Birmingham came to a history creating women’s doubles pair of India. Their attempt at creating yet better history for their country was cut short with this loss.
