When the saga of the New Orleans Saints’ failure in the regular season continued even this season with a fifth consecutive loss, the fans bolted out of the stadium in huge force. For the past several seasons, the fans have suffered only disappointment by supporting the Saints and therefore, their frustrations are understandable.

Running back Alvin Kamara believes the same. After recording the worst loss at 33-10 under head coach Dennis Allen in more than a decade, New Orleans’ running back made some bold statements regarding his team while acknowledging fans’ frustrations.

Fans weren’t the only ones frustrated by the failure of the Saints when they began leaving the stadium in the second quarter, Kamara was spotted visibly frustrated in the first half of the game as it seemed he already anticipated how things were going to end against the Denver Broncos

Our play is unacceptable and the dome being empty or emptying out, that’s unacceptable… if I was a fan, I’d leave too because it’s not good enough right now. I don’t blame the fans, it’s on us. They come to see us play and perform and when we don’t perform, that’s the results you get. I’ve been here eight years, and I’ve never seen the dome clear out like that.

Alvin Kamara said in the post-game press conference

The running back admitted that this was the first time in his eight-year career in the league that fans exited the stadium in such large numbers. But he emphasized them as their hope for the Super Bowl with a 2-0 opening record in 2024 got crushed following their five-game losing streak.

Alvin Kamara calls for more energy and attention to detail as Saints struggle

While speaking to the media, the five-time Pro Bowler emphasized certain missing pieces in his team’s strategy, especially when it comes to attention to detail. He further admitted that the Saints need to play with more energy with fighting spirit which they have severely lacked in the past five games.

Team that comes out and just puts [their] mind in a place of where it’s like, ‘It’s Thursday, we know it’s a short week, we just gotta go play.’ The team that can do that? I mean, that’s the team that’s gon’ win. And I don’t think we did it today.

This frustration has fueled Kamara’s ongoing trade rumors, which erupted after he put up his house in New Orleans for sale. The star running back also failed to make an impact in the week 7 game and recorded the worst stats of his career with 7 attempts for 10 yards, 6 receptions, and zero touchdowns.
