Ananda Anisimova reached the first WTA 1000 level final of her career with a victory over compatriot Emma Navarro on August 11th. Unfortunately, despite this achievement, some trolls on social media are more focused on the 22-year-old’s fitness and physical appearance.
One hater called her ‘overweight’ but the young American stood up for herself and snapped back at the seemingly middle-aged man who had passed the comment. She called him out on his disrespectful statement and made it clear that she was not bothered by it. Her response was backed by many supporters and the troll was put in his place in the comments section.
“First things first: stop eating like cow,” the hateful user said in response to a post on X that showed Anisimova celebrating her victory and mentioned what her career goals were.

Anisimova’s straight-set win over Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinal backed her response and ensured that no haters could have their say.
Ananda Anisimova takes on Jessica Pegula for a shot at her first big title
Last year in May, Ananda Anisimova announced an indefinite hiatus from tennis citing mental burnout. At just 21, she had decided to prioritize her mental well-being over continuing to compete regularly. This led to a drop in her rankings and she fell from inside the top 30 to well outside the top 100.
The former French Open semifinalist returned to the WTA tour in January this year but was welcomed with some harsh results and draws owing to her ranking. However, she reached the fourth round at the Australian Open, only to be dispatched by eventual winner, Aryna Sabalenka, 6-3, 6-2. However, eight months later, she is back to her best and completed her revenge by knocking out Sabalenka, the current World No. 3, 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinal of the Montreal WTA 1000.
Having already downed two compatriots, Anisimova, ranked 132 in the world, will take on another American in Jessica Pegula in the final on August 12. Pegula is the current World No.6 and the second highest-ranked American woman, behind Coco Gauff.
