The Indian Cricket Team faced off against the Pakistan Cricket Team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Men in Blue convincingly won the match by six wickets and virtually knocked the hosts out of the tournament. Virat Kohli scored his 51st ODI, his 82nd international century, and his first century in the Champions Trophy.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 100 runs off 111 balls with seven boundaries in his innings. He yet again stood up in a run chase under pressure, and that too against Pakistan. The star Indian batter has remained the nemesis in chief against Pakistan, and he repeated his feat yet again.

However, a hilarious incident happened in the Star Sports Hindi commentary box before Kohli reached his first Champions Trophy century. Ambati Rayudu on air stated that he hoped Hardik Pandya wouldn’t come to bat, as that might not help Kohli get his century. Pandya has been infamous for his quick runs and for stopping some of his teammates from reaching his landmark.

Yahi umeed karenge ki Hardik Pandya na aa jaye (We will hope that Hardik Pandya does not come in).

Ambati Rayudu said on air

Pandya came in and started going for his shots. He scored eight runs from six balls with one boundary. When he even got dismissed, there was a cheeky smile on Kohli’s face. The former Indian captain reached his century with his final shot that went for a boundary.

India have solidified their place in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Team India beat Bangladesh in the opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai, and now have beat Pakistan in the second match. The Men in Green, on the other hand, have lost both their matches against the Kiwis and Rohit Sharma‘s team. So, they now have to depend on the match against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

If Bangladesh beat New Zealand, Pakistan beat Bangladesh convincingly, and India go on to beat the Kiwis, then Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand will be on two points. Then, the net run rate will determine the second semi-finalist from Group A.

Pakistan were dismissed for 241 runs in 49.4 overs. Saud Shakeel scored 62 runs in 76 balls, while Muhammad Rizwan scored 46 runs in 77 balls. Kuldeep Yadav was the peak of the India bowlers with three wickets. It remains to be seen what happens to the rest of the teams in the tournament.
