Donald Trump recently had Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy over in his Oval office for peace talks. Zelenskyy had implored President Trump personally for combat aid. This is a meeting that saw the Ukrainian leader getting kicked out of the White House after backing out of a deal. The one single thread that still joins these hot heads outside the political spectrum – boxing’s Oleksandr Usyk.
As weird as that reads, it’s not out of pocket at all. Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently dapped it up with the Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Usyk. The US President and combat enthusiast Donald Trump is also a fan of boxing cards and big names. Zelenskyy recently gifted the POTUS Oleksandr Usyk’s WBC Championship belt before the Oval Office shouting match.
Usyk recently swiped out ex-WBC champion Tyson Fury in their heavyweight rematch. He beat the Brit again on lopsided digits of 116-112 on all three judges’ scorecards. While “Cat” bagged two decisive decisions and became the 4-belt era’s undisputed heavyweight king in the first one, he later relinquished the IBF gold.

Fury has retired for the nth time, hopefully to drive up the bargain in an all-Britain clash against Anthony Joshua. With the books closed on it, Usyk now treads ahead as the brand face of the heavyweight division. Many applauded when he visited international cards in the Saudi GEA combat capital in Riyadh. Seemingly, even the Capitol Rotunda and Trump administration recognize the brilliance that is Usyk.
Fight fans react to Oleksandr Usyk’s belt in the Whtie House
EADaily, BBC, and others reported that while Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a hard sociopolitical gamble, the boxing world saw quite a spectacle. The Trump-Zelenskyy implosion means it’s hard for the Ukrainian to return to the White House for peace talks and global aid. However, Oleksandr Usyk is the big winner that connected them.

The World Boxing Council (WBC) belt, allegedly won by Usyk in December 2024, was brought on by Zelenskyy’s companions and entourage. ‘Tribune’ reported that TikTok users asked Usyk about it, who had quite an interesting notion.
I do not know. My belts are all at my house… a special belt, I think, of some kind… I know what kind of belt it is, I just can’t tell anyone anything. And I don’t want to…
Oeksandry Usyk commented (H/T: EurAsia Daily; Telegram)
A pseudo belt or not, this marks a goodwill gesture from the Kiev regime head. It also marks how big of a figure Oleksandr Usyk already is. An amateur Olympic gold medallist/undisputed champion in two divisions and current unified HW king, Usyk is the biggest name in the game. Fans have reacted just as much on his belt, fake or real, been paraded in the Oval Office:
That is insane!

Surprised he didn’t try to take it with him on his way out. That interaction today was rough.

Take it back. Usyk is a legit badass warrior. The best P4P in the game. Trump doesn't belong anywhere near greatness.

That’s awesome!

Usyk now touts two over fellow heavyweight great Fury, a win over current IBF heavyweight champ Daniel Dubois, and two over AJ. He made the better case as pound-for-pound ‘2024 Fighter of the Year’ over names like Artur Beterbiev, Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, face of boxing Canelo Alvarez, and IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO super bantamweight Naoya ‘Monster’ Inoue. It remains to be seen who he will fight next.
