After 11 years of pining, Rory McIlroy finally clinched the career Grand Slam on Sunday at Augusta National Golf Club. The bundle of joy came after a troublesome year off the course, in respect to his wife Erica Stoll and daughter Poppy. However, the family overcame it all in the emotional embrace after the win.

Rory McIlroy was overwhelmed to the point of tears after the final round of the 2025 Masters against Justin Rose. The Irish golfer toasted to the long-overdue win with his family, Erica and Poppy, who waited for him on the sidelines.

The video posted by the official handle of Masters on X featured McIlory crying a river while he hugged his wife. Stoll, who had just witnessed her husband make history, was also in a bundle of tears that her hat hid. McIlroy went on to pick his daughter up in a long hug that showcased what the Green Jacket meant to him. “A win for the family,” wrote the Masters X handle.

After his final winning birdie, Rory McIlroy collapsed to the ground, taking the weight of his failed attempts over the years off his shoulders. With his head in his hands, he sobbed before greeting his caddie of seven years, Harry Diamond. The pair broke apart for the 2025 Masters winner to acknowledge his opponent before rushing off to his family. Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll have come a long way from last year with their formidable relationship.

Back in May 2024, the couple made a buzz on social media after the golfer announced his divorce from his wife. It came after seven years of the couple being together.

The announcement came days before McIlroy was about to start his PGA Championship run. Months after the shocking decision, the couple took yet another fierce course of action and retracted their spit. It was an overwhelming day for Rory McIlroy after his career Grand Slam win. He had a couple of people to express his gratitude to. During his Green Jacket ceremony, the golfer saved some space to appreciate his family. Fresh off of making history, he gave the tribute at the verge of tears when he spoke of his family, ‘his team’ who sat on the left. He opened up about their consistent support throughout the tumultuous times in his career, which was evidently there.

My family, my team, they’ve been on this journey with me the whole way through. They know the burden that I’ve carried to come here every year and try, and try, and try again.

He went on about his struggles and how Erica Stoll and his daughter were witnesses to the hard work he put into it every year. With the recurring losses, his family testified to the burden that was deposited on him.

Following his story filled with obstacles, he had some advice for his four-year-old daughter Poppy, who patiently watched her father on the podium. McIlroy encouraged his daughter to never lose hope on her dreams.

McIlroy meant it with all sincerity as he doubled down. He advised her to be consistent and revisit her dreams should she fail in achieving them at once. Hard work was another thing the celebrated golfer believed in, considering his entire career was abundant with it.
