The Detroit Lions avenged their NFC Championship loss almost a year ago by defeating the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling encounter at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The Lions, who are in contention for the numero uno spot from the NFC, bettered their single-season wins record with the 40-34 win over the Niners.
The San Francisco 49ers squad, a shell of the team they were in last January, headed into the Lions’ game without any chances to qualify this season. The California team had been ravaged by injuries to many key players including the reigning OPOY Christian McCaffrey, and prime scorer Brandon Aiyuk. Brock Purdy missed one game while George Kittle, Nick Bosa, and Deebo Samuel Sr. spent some considerable time on the sidelines.
Nevertheless, The Niners, especially Fred Warner had some fiery speech before the game. Warner seemed too overconfident in the game, brimming to the point where it could be considered arrogance. In a video described as one of the best pre-game speeches by Dov Kleiman, Fred Warner seemed to send out a warning to the Lions. Warner bellowed that the Lions would get their a***s beat up by the Niners.
Dan Campbell said ‘we’re bringing everybody to the West Coast. For what? To get your a** beat tonight. They got to leave like this, limping (holds his lower-back area).

The hyped-up Warner’s fiery speech, however, has aged poorly. The Detroit Lions exacted their revenge and humiliated the Niners at their home. How do they feel? Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has put up impressive numbers, was at the center to let the opponents know.
The 2023 All-Pro wide receiver delivered a sharp post-game jab at his opponents with the remark, “We spanked these boys,” via SportsCenter on X. On Tuesday, he escalated the exchange by responding to Warner on social media.
St. Brown shared a video featuring the linebacker mimicking a limping motion from his earlier comments, set to Too Short’s “Blow the Whistle,” as reported by Dov Kleiman. As the cherry on top, St. Brown added an Instagram post further trolling Warner
Amon-Ra St. Brown and the Detroit Lions play the Minnesota Vikings for the first seed in the postseason
The Detroit Lions have confirmed either No. 1 or No. 5 seed in the postseason. The first seed of the NFC will come down to the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings game on the final day of the season. A win or a tie against the Vikings could help the Lions secure a fairytale ending to their best season in franchise history.

The victory would not come so easily. The NFC North has shown immense competition this season. To give an idea, the loser of the Vikings and Lions game would become the winningest wild card team ever with 14 wins in the regular season. The Vikings led by Sam Darnold, who’s enjoying his career-best performance are third in the season for most passing yards and have thrown over 30 touchdowns in sixteen games.
The Lions defeated the Vikings once this season, thanks to Jahmyr Gibbs’ magical numbers that day. The Lions would once again resort to their offensive strengths and aggressive playcalling to reverberate the success from the Week 7 duel. Given St. Brown’s pointed remarks directed at the Vikings, both he and the Lions must deliver strong performances to avoid placing himself in the “all talk, no action” category which he rightfully called Warner out for.
