Several NFL teams have Arch Manning on their radar, but the Los Angeles Rams seem especially keen on the junior Texas quarterback. Sean McVay is on the lookout to replace the 37-year-old and soon-to-be-38 Matthew Stafford, whose contract ends after the 2025-26 season. Manning is quickly shaping up to be the answer to McVay’s search.
Rams and Stafford found themselves in a standoff just two years into his four-year $160 million contract. The NFC West team urged Stafford to make some changes to his contract. After a brief pause, the former first overall pick agreed to restructure.
The contract restructuring handed Stafford a $56 million guaranteed contract for the 2025 season. This new deal essentially lowered the Rams’ cap hit by $9 million by tacking on five void years to the back end of the extension.
After taking care of Stafford, the Rams and Sean McVay began scouting a replacement for the Super Bowl winner. According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the Rams are leaning toward drafting Arch Manning in 2026.
Robinson wrote that the Rams will not face any issues even if Stafford returns to play for the 2026 season. McVay will simply follow the same path as the Chiefs took for 3x Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes.
Put [Arch Manning] on ice for his rookie season, similar to the Kansas City Chiefs keeping Patrick Mahomes on the bench behind Alex Smith in 2017. The source added that the franchise believes Stafford would be open to such a scenario, knowing that 2027 will almost certainly be his last season in the NFL, regardless of what transpires during the course of the regular season and playoffs.

McVay even has a backdoor option if he ever decides to take it. The Rams’ general manager, Les Snead’s stepson, is a close friend of Manning. Snead was previously seen chatting with the five-star prospect.

Landing the 6-foot-4, 219-pounder will keep the Rams relevant in a division that includes Brock Purdy, Kyler Murray, and Sam Darnold.
In the wide receiver department, they replaced former triple crown winner Cooper Kupp with future Hall of Famer Davante Adams. The All-Pro wideout is the perfect mentor for third-year receiver Puka Nacua.
Arch Manning models his game on Josh Allen
Manning is a work in progress—a very raw talent. He was still effective for the Longhorns whenever Steve Sarkisian required him to take over quarterback duty.

The best part of Manning’s play style is his cannon arm, and he is surprisingly efficient at using his feet, a skill that his uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning, lacked.
In an interview, the young Manning revealed he models his game on the current NFL MVP.
I’m watching a lot of Josh Allen and Joe Burrow right now. Those are my guys. They’re dogs. I’ve watched some of their college film. They’re just good players, elite competitors, and fun to watch.

Manning has chosen a good role model because Allen’s style suits the current era of NFL football.

Arch Manning isn’t leaving college after this year.
There is no Tank for Arch.
2025 season can’t start soon enough. The Texans are among the favorites to snatch the CFP championship title from holders Ohio State, but Manning must be at his best to achieve that goal.
