Andre Agassi lavished some praise on Carlos Alcaraz by comparing him to the Big 3 of tennis which is Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. The American however also cautioned Alcaraz that only talent wouldn’t take him to where the Big 3 now stand.
Alcaraz has already started to break the records set by the Big 3 and this year only he surpassed compatriot Nadal to become the youngest man to win all Majors on the three surfaces when he lifted the French Open. Agassi, during TiE Global Summit 2024 in Bengaluru, was asked about Alcaraz and he talked about how Alcaraz excels in certain areas of the game.
I’m not a genius and I don’t have a crystal ball. What I can tell you is Alcaraz defends like Novak, has power and spin like Nadal, and his hands and finesse like Federer. But just because he has the best of all three doesn’t mean he can do what they did. Decision-making, injuries, and luck…there are so many things.

Alcaraz, at 21, is a four-time Grand Slam champion, with the Australian Open being the only title he’s yet to lift. In an interview, he said that achieving the Career Grand Slam is one of his main goals for the 2025 season. In Melbourne however, Alcaraz has never reached the semifinals.
Andy Roddick lauds Carlos Alcaraz after the Charlotte Invitational exhibition event
After wrapping up his ATP season, Carlos Alcaraz flew to New York City to participate in the Garden Cup held at the Madison Square Garden. He then went to Charlotte for the Charlotte Invitational.

Former World No.1 from America Andy Roddick, who lives in Charlotte, and who was in the stands during the match, lauded Alcaraz’s behavior as he claimed the youngster did not play in the exhibition events solely to bag the huge prize money.
This is something that he’s doing obviously because he is getting paid like there’s no doubt about it, but he doesn’t act like someone who’s there to get paid. He acts like someone who is trying to add value. And if he is getting paid, he’s the safest offer in tennis.
Andy Roddick said on his Served with Andy Roddick podcast
After the two exhibition events in the United States, Alcaraz has started preparing for the 2025 season. He won four titles this season, two of which were French Open and Wimbledon.
