As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is under scrutiny. During the team’s Pro Day in Boulder, Sanders impressed many observers, but one NFL player had a different take.

New York Jets safety Andre Cisco called out a habit in Sanders’ throwing motion, pointing to his tendency to pat the ball before release. Cisco posted the critique on social media after watching clips of Sanders’ performance on Friday.

The comment drew attention amid ongoing discussions about Sanders’ readiness for the next level. In the last few weeks, Sanders has seen his draft stock tanking, to even missing out on the first round being a possibility.

While scouts have praised his power, touch, and poise, some believe mechanical details could be refined. One such mechanical detail was referred by Cisco, which hints that defenders will anticipate throws if Sanders continues the motion in the NFL.

Boy better stop patting that ball, we breakin onnat earlyyyy.

Despite the comment, many scouts remain confident in Sanders’ skill set. According to a Fox Sports report, one NFL executive noted Sanders was throwing with “more power” and “more velocity” than expected.

Sanders completed 58 of 63 passes during his Pro Day, with three of the incompletions resulting from clear drops. Talent evaluators were mostly pleased with his decision-making and timing.

Cisco’s remarks prompted a defense from New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton, who challenged the idea that the ball-patting issue was significant. “I promise he can pat the ball and be just fine… what a joke,” Slayton responded.

The Giants were among several teams with a strong presence at the showcase, sending top staff to watch Sanders and his former teammate and friend Travis Hunter.

Tennessee Titans looking to move forward from Shedeur Sanders

The University of Colorado hosted its annual Pro Day on Friday, giving Shedeur Sanders and Heisman winner Travis Hunter a final chance to impress NFL scouts. Among the well-represented teams were the Tennessee Titans, led by top executives Chad Brinker and Mike Borgonzi, who were reportedly very impressed with the duo’s performance.

However, a recent development signal that the Titans are ready to move on from Sanders. According to Jim Wyatt, the Titans and Shedeur Sanders’ camp agreed to cancel a previously scheduled private workout set for April 9 following his Pro Day showing.

On the same note, Deion Sanders, father and coach has revealed that they have spoken with the Cleveland Browns head coach Jimmy Haslam following the pro day performance. Sanders noted that the Browns are heavily going with either Sanders or Hunter with their second overall pick.

There is more than Sanders’ word to claim for this. Cleveland Browns brought most of their brass on Pro Day. They had their general manager, head coach, assistant general managers and the quarterbacks coach as well in attendance.

As there are mere days for the NFL Draft, the tensions are swirling like the sand dunes in a hot desert. The teams are assessing their chances of drafting potentially a championship winner in their squad and address their major needs.
