Legendary Motorsports team owned by F1 and IndyCar champion Mario Andretti and Michael Andretti, the Andretti Global is going through a massive transition. Alongside their many Motorsports operations, the team is looking to enter Formula One despite their bid that getting rejected. Amidst this uncertainty Andretti looking to make another move.

It has long been rumored that Andretti Global wants to enter the premier stock car racing series NASCAR. They already have a pathway to the sport with a sponsorship deal involving their team’s co-owner and Spire Motorsports. Recently the team shared a video where they confirmed concrete interest in joining NASCAR.

The team’s president JF Thormann asserted that the ambition of Mike Andretti is get into Formula one and hopefully later into NASCAR. Their priority still remains the Formula One entry, as it’s much harder to do than the stock car series entry. Marco Andretti being a part-time racer in the Truck Series will also motivate them to work more on the NASCAR scene.

We’re the only ones that compete in the amount of series that we do. And then the ambition that Mike [Andretti] still has – we still have to close the loop obviously with Formula 1, that’s well-documented – and hopefully NASCAR. Then we’re going to have a race virtually every weekend and it’ll keep our name out there and keep us busy.

While further talking about the point, Thormann pointed out that the Andretti brand has a lot of value and the name is widely recognized by the racing fans around the world. He believes this is because of the fact that the fans recognize the hard work the family put-in to get where they are at the moment.

A lot of times when I travel if I have the branding on, the amount of people that will actually ask and say ‘do you work for the Andretti race team, is it Mario, is it Michael?’ You realize the power of the name and how recognized it is. It represents that hard work, Mario’s story of coming over with just their shirt on their backs. It’s just pride to wear that.

Andretti Global seems to be ready to expand into NASCAR and Formula One soon to explore the opportunities it presents while also expanding their family legacy. It would be interesting to see how many years it would take them to do it.
