Andrey Rublev is on a great run of form. With his win over Márton Fucsovics at the Dubai Open, Rublev recorded his 23rd consecutive win at an ATP 500 event. The record for most consecutive wins at an ATP 500 event is held by Roger Federer who has 28 wins. Apart from all that he is also into the Semifinals of the Dubai Open, and he would be desperate to add to another ATP 500 trophy post his Rotterdam Open triumph.

After the Dubai open, Rublev is also looking forward to participating at  the ATP 1000 event in Miami, the Miami Open. He believes with a field that doesn’t include the likes of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem, this will be a great opportunity for him to win the tournament and earn some points. Rublev has no points to defend at the ATP 1000 level events in 2021.

Andrey Rublev says, “I want to be as much ready as I can for Miami, because there’s gonna be no Rafael Nadal, no Djokovic, Federer and Thiem. And in my case, all 1000s tournaments, I have no points there.”

The Miami Open had its previous season, 2020, entirely cancelled because of the Covid Pandemic, and this year they are facing issues with player pullout. Roger Federer was the first one in the ‘Big three’ to officially pull out. Federer said he needed more time to train and get ready. After that, Rafael Nadal talked about wanting to give his body a break and come back for the clay court season.

The last one to pullout was the Australian Open Champion 2021, Novak Djokovic, who is still recovering from the muscle tear he suffered at the Australian Open. Not only the ‘Big Three’ top players like Domic Thiem, Stan Wawrinka, and Nick Kyrgios have decided to withdraw from the event as well.
