Andrey Rublev has often been criticized for his lack of self-control on court, which has cost him some matches in the past. Rublev’s self control has improved since his earlier days, but there is still a long way to go for him. More than often, the Russian has struggled to put a lid on his temper on court.

Andrey Rublev was asked about this aspect of his game in the latest interview with Marca. “I am the worst Top-10 in that regard, although it is true that compared to the past there has been a considerable improvement,” Rublev answered. The Russian accepts that his on court temper is his weak link and he will have to work on the same going forward.

His vastly improved performances and an improved ranking, earned him a ticket to London where he competed at the Nitto ATP Finals for the first time. Although, he could not progress beyond the round-robin stages, it was a great experience for the Russian. He defeated Dominic Thiem in the final match of the round-robin stage, after losing to Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the opening matches.

The Russian will aim to win more titles in 2021, with his all-out attacking game. He will also be looking forward to performing well at Grandslam events and reach the final stages on a consistent basis.
