Russia’s Andrey Rublev once again flew into a rage. He was playing against Argentina’s Francisco Comesana in his first round of the Wimbledon on Tuesday (July 2) when his mistake made him slam the racket on his thigh and knee on Court Two.
The incident happened when Rublev was serving during the fifth game of the third set after both he and Comesana won a set each. Rublev was trailing by 1-3 and after serving, when he tried to defend, he sent the outside of the baseline and instantly started beating his left thigh and knee with the racket.

He stopped for some seconds to yell at his box before smashing his racket again. The unseeded Comesana won the set 6-2 and the win in the fourth set took him to the second round after he beat the sixth seed with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 7-6(7-5) scoreline.

I think Rublev needs to see a sports psychologist. This happens far too often, and it's pretty excessive. pic.twitter.com/oneqavULmK

This meltdown came after Rublev vowed that he would never behave in such a manner following his straight-set defeat to Matteo Arnaldi at the French Open. Rublev apologized for his behavior calling it his worst in a major tournament.
Completely disappointed with myself, the way I behaved, the way I performed. I don’t remember behaving worse in a Slam ever. It was the first time I ever behaved that bad. I gave Matteo wings to fly and he was flying in the third set. The problem is the head. Today basically I killed myself and that’s it. It was really bad behavior from me.Andrey Rublev said at the press conference back then
Rublev made his fifth appearance at the Wimbledon and reached the quarterfinals last year which was also his best performance at the SW19. Though the 26-year-old has won 16 ATP Tour titles, he never advanced into the semifinals of any Grand Slam event.

Rublev walked onto the Wimbledon court losing his first-round match to America’s Marcos Giron in the Halle Open last month. The 27-year-old Francisco Comesana on the other hand achieved his best at a major event by reaching the second round, for he never qualified for the main draws of a Grand Slam event before.
