Andy Murray has confirmed his participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics doubles along with Dan Evans. The Scot’s hopes for Wimbledon and the Olympics were hanging by a thread after he injured his back during the Queen’s Club Championships.

Even Evans was unsure of his Wimbledon participation when a nasty slip at the Queen’s left him “heartbroken“. But thankfully now, as per The Standard, both have confirmed their participation in Paris.

The three-time Grand Slam champion will kick-start his Wimbledon campaign on July 2 against Tomas Machac who leads the head-to-head record over the Scot 2-0. Evans also has his first match on July 2 against 24th seed Alejandro Tabilo

The matches at the Paris Olympics, on the other hand, will start on July 27, less than two weeks after the Wimbledon final. Murray is a two-time Wimbledon champion in singles, winning in 2013 and 2016, and won two gold medals in doubles in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.

Andy Murray reiterates he doesn’t plan to play after this season

Earlier this year, Andy Murray declared that he wanted to finally bid farewell to tennis, making Wimbledon or the Paris Olympics his final tournament. But the back injury and subsequent surgery spoiled his plans.

There were rumors about his withdrawal from Wimbledon but his mother Judy Murray quashed them with a post on X. Then when the Wimbledon draws came out, it had Murray’s name on it, thus confirming his participation. Ahead of his first-round match, he reiterated that he wanted to come to Wimbledon at all costs.

I just want the opportunity to play one more time out there hopefully on Center Court, and I don’t know, feel that buzz. Like last year, I wasn’t planning on it being my last year on the tour. I wanted to come back and play again, but this year I have no plans to do that. It’s coming to the end of my career and I want to have that opportunity to play here again.
Andy Murray said in his pre-tournament press conference

It must be noted that the former World No.1 may withdraw from the tournament if he feels his body is not ready for the Wimbledon grind. After his practice session with compatriot player Kyle Edmund (who will play doubles), Murray confirmed that after speaking with his family this evening, he would decide whether to walk onto the Wimbledon court or not.
