Andy Murray, who pulled out of the singles matches just before his first-round match at Wimbledon, has received a wild card to play mixed doubles with Emma Raducanu. Murray is playing the Wimbledon for the last time and has also teamed up with his brother Jamie Murray for doubles.

Murray’s plan to play without any major problem was spoiled when he suffered a back injury during his last Queen’s Club Championships (which he won five times). Then the three-time Grand Slam champion underwent surgery and there were doubts about his Wimbledon participation.

And though his name was there on the Wimbledon main draw list, he waited for the last moment to make the decision about his participation in singles matches before withdrawing on Tuesday. Back in 2019, Murray played mixed doubles matches by joining Serena Williams at the Wimbledon and reached the third round.

Raducanu on the other hand believes she got her form back and is confident of having a good run at the Wimbledon. She was World No.10 in 2021 but poor form, the three surgeries last year, and missing major tournaments affected her rankings as she stands in the 135th position.

By teaming up with the two-time Wimbledon champion, Raducanu will be playing mixed doubles matches at a Grand Slam level for the first time. The only time she played a doubles match was in an event in Washington two years ago.

I think the biggest advice is just how he's always taken care of his operations, how he manages his people. I haven't really spoken to him so much. I think for me it's just watching him operate day to day, watching him be absolutely on it with everything. Even in practice now, he's so on it to the minute.
Emma Raducanu said at the press conference

Raducanu is 13/9 on the season and is searching for her first title of the season as well as her second title on the WTA Tour. She bagged her first trophy at the 2021 US Open which she won as a qualifier without dropping a set, becoming the first player to do so in the Open Era.
