British tennis ace Andy Murray is all set to return to action as the 36-year-old gets a wild card entry into the Geneva Open. The three-time Grand Slam champion is making a comeback after a brief injury layoff. Murray suffered a ligament tear at the Miami Open but luckily avoided undergoing surgery.
The 36-year-old was also included in the entry list for the 2024 French Open but there were uncertainties about his comeback tournament. Nevertheless, all those speculations ended when the Geneva Open announced that Murray had been handed a wild card into the ATP 250 tournament.
This will be Murray’s first tournament on clay as the 36-year-old has been out of action since the Miami Open. Since the Briton is aiming to play in singles as well as doubles events, Murray needs some game time on clay and the ATP 250 tournament might serve as the best preparation.
Geneva Open made the announcement about Murray’s participation through a social media post.

While Andy Murray returns, no signs of return of Stan Wawrinka
While Andy Murray‘s comeback timeline ahead of the French Open has been confirmed, there are still no signs of the return of Stan Wawrinka. The Swiss veteran last played on the Challenger Tour in Aix-en-Provence, France. Wawrinka suffered a first-round exit there.
The 39-year-old has not taken part in any tournament after that heartbreak. Now, Wawrinka has not been named in the entry list for the Geneva Open. The Swiss veteran would have hoped to play at the ATP 250 tournament after facing a humiliation in Monte Carlo, at the hands of Alex de Minaur.
Wawrinka has been named in the entry list for the 2024 Roland Garros though. This means that he needs to play some matches on clay before the ultimate test starts in France. The interesting part is that Wawrinka is neither playing at the Geneva Open nor in Open Parc. It is to be seen how the Swiss star manages to practice for the mega event.
