British legend Andy Murray is set to resume his coaching role with Novak Djokovic in the Indian Wells Masters and will stay with the Serbian for the Miami Open. The pair began their partnership at the Australian Open and, after a successful spell, have decided to continue together as Djokovic aims for his 100th tour-level title.
Djokovic plans to take part in the Sunshine Double – Indian Wells and Miami Open – for the first time since 2019. Last year, he played at the Indian Wells and decided to skip Miami. According to reports, Murray’s team flew to the United States on Monday (March 3) ahead of the Masters 1000 tournament which begins on March 5.
Djokovic last competed at the Qatar Open, where he exited in the first round after losing in straight sets to Matteo Berrettini. Murray was not present with him at the tournament. They began working in January ahead of the Australian Open. Murray had retired from professional tennis in August and decided to take the role as Djokovic’s coach.
During their short spell together at the Australian Open, there was a noticeable improvement in Djokovic’s game. The former World No.1 was outstanding, especially in the quarterfinals against Carlos Alcaraz. Unfortunately, in the semifinals, he was forced to retire after the first round due to an injury.
Djokovic was heavily criticized for retiring from the match which led him to make public an MRI scan that showed he suffered a muscular tear. He did well to return back to the court at the Qatar Open, but after his first round, he was seen limping to the airport. However, there are no reports that he suffered an injury as he looks set to play in Indian Wells.
Top tennis broadcaster reveals one unique quality Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray share
Andy Murray’s partnership with Novak Djokovic has really injected a new belief that the latter can win titles. In fact, Djokovic has been predicted to win his 25th Grand Slam at this year’s Wimbledon Championship. The Serbian now has a chance to prove it by winning the Indian Wells Open.

Recently, a respected tennis broadcaster, Marcus Buckland, revealed that Djokovic and Murray bear almost the same character – resilience. He added that they can’t be written off until they have given every last ounce they have.
It is the same with Murray as you never want to write off these great champions until they have given every last ounce to revive their glory days, as these guys love to prove people wrong. He will be doing everything he can to be as fit as he can be and come Roland Garros and Wimbledon, given a favourable draw and if his body doesn’t let him down, of course he has a chance.

Djokovic is chasing for his sixth Indian Wells title having last won it in 2016. He has a difficult task at hand as his rival Carlos Alcaraz is seeking to win it for the third successive year.
