Andy Murray‘s Wimbledon career has come to an end after Emma Raducanu pulled out of the mixed doubles citing stiffness in her right wrist. It was a precautionary decision from her as she did not want to further damage the wrist.
Raducanu dominated Maria Sakkari on Friday (July 5), beating the Greek 6-2, 6-3. Towards the end of that match, she had a nasty fall on the court but immediately picked herself up and finished off the game. However, it now looks like the fall caused an injury to her wrist.
Raducanu’s decision comes as a major blow to British fans as it marks the end of Murray’s time at Wimbledon. The pair were supposed to face Zhang Shuai and Marcelo Arevalo on Court One on Saturday. Murray is not permitted to name a replacement in the mixed doubles as per tournament rules.
Unfortunately I woke up with some stiffness in my right wrist, so therefore I have decided to make the very tough decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles tonight.

Emma Raducanu is unhappy with Wimbledon organizers after a scheduling conflict
Emma Raducanu was pretty unhappy with the Wimbledon organizers after learning about the change in the schedule of her mixed doubles match. Although she won’t be competing in the category now, she did not take the news well when it came to light.
According to the schedule, Murray and Raducanu’s mixed doubles match was set to take place at the same time as England’s quarterfinal against Switzerland at Euro 2024. It was expected that their mixed doubles match would be the first match on one of the two main show courts due to the potential clash with the soccer match.
However, they were later scheduled to be the fourth game on Court One, with one men’s singles match and two women’s singles matches taking place before them. The tournament organizers made this eyebrow-raising decision that was not taken well by many fans including Raducanu.
Yeah I know. The scheduling of that was not ideal.

In the singles, Raducanu has shown great form to beat Renata Zarazua, Elise Mertens, and Maria Sakkari. In the fourth round, she will face breakout star Lulu Sun, the first Kiwi woman in 65 years to reach the Round of 16 at SW19.
