In a recent interview, Andy Roddick questioned the Novak Djokovic-led organization Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA). Later, PTPA’s co-founder Vasek Pospisil tried to explain how the organization functions.
Roddick, in an interview with the New York Magazine, stated that he had no ideas about the goals of PTPA. Pospisil explained on X that there is a player advisory council within the ATP/WTA structure which is “completely powerless” and this is how the PTPA was born. He also assured Roddick that they had just started and were confident of achieving the goals.
Players have wanted an association for decades and no one was able to get it off the ground or even really know where to begin. Many players over the years have talked a big game, few actually act.Vasek Pospisil wrote on X
Pospisil added that he has worked a lot for PTPA, which has even taken away his tennis career. The 34-year-old Canadian asked Roddick with “open arms” to join the organization. Roddick however, was not impressed as he questioned what they even accomplished so far, and felt Pospisil was simply “bragging“.
I don't think that it's that I'm not up to speed. I don't think you all have done much. Seems to be press and photo shoots. You've negotiated trading card deals? Are you an agency?Andy Roddick wrote on X

Andy Roddick invites Vasek Pospisil to his podcast
Many tennis fans were unhappy with Andy Roddick as they felt the American was not able to understand what PTPA is trying to achieve. Roddick also thinks the same, which is why he invited Vasek Pospisil to his podcast, Served with Andy Roddick.
Gonna delete as I feel this is harsh if true. People trying to help. Instead I’ll extend an open invite to come on @Served_Podcast and tell me why I’m wrong. I’m sure as Vasek put it, I simply don’t know what’s going on.Andy Roddick wrote on X

Novak Djokovic, in an interview with ESPN last year, talked about how tennis can be in a better place by giving more power and representation to the players so that they can have a better livelihood from tennis. To make this goal come true, Djokovic said the members of PTPA have been working day and night tirelessly and are positive about the result.
