Former American player Andy Roddick took to X to criticize US Congressman Henry Cuellar and his wife Imelda Cuellar after they were accused of accepting $600,000 in bribes. Cueller and his wife allegedly received money through corrupt methods from Azerbaijan and Mexico.
In exchange for the money, they allegedly agreed to work towards making policy in favor of Azerbaijan and Mexico. Though they denied the charges and were bailed, they could face years in prison if they are found guilty of the crimes they have committed.
Roddick, on X, wrote that the system did the right thing by accusing the Democrat politician of wrongdoing.
Good riddance. Dem or Republican doesn’t matter. Charges are charges. Crime is a crime. If convicted, then it’s our system at work. Crime and abuse of office shouldn’t be political. Wrong is wrong is wrongAndy Roddick wrote on X
Roddick also recently called out Donald Trump. He did not like Trump’s way of selling bibles worth $60 despite being a billionaire.
Andy Roddick slams crowd in Madrid
Andy Roddick doesn’t mince his words while giving his opinions on any topic. He recently appeared on Tennis Channel during the ongoing Madrid Open.
The crowd at the Caja Magica booed Daniil Medvedev when he retired after the first set in the quarterfinal match against Jiri Lehecka. The Russian injured his right leg, which forced him to retire, and it invited boos from the crowd. Roddick did not like it and told the crowd that it’s not the players’ fault when they get injured.
This crowd has to be a little fatigued about these guys going down and listen, it’s not their fault. I hate some of the boos I’ve seen, especially for Medvedev when he walked off the other day.Andy Roddick said
Roddick also revealed his favorites to win the title at the upcoming Roland Garros. In women’s tennis, Roddick picked Elena Rybakina to win her first trophy in Paris. The Kazakh recently lost the Madrid Open semifinal to Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka.
In men’s tennis, Roddick believes Rafael Nadal, if he gets his rhythm back, can end up winning his record 15th French Open title. Nadal is struggling to find his form and lost in Madrid to Lehecka in the Round of 16.
Roddick is a one-time Grand Slam champion, winning the US Open in 2003. He made it to the Wimbledon final three times, in 2004, 2005, and 2009, but lost to 20-time Grand Slam singles winner Roger Federer each time.
