Recently, Andy Roddick got into a heated argument on X after a tennis fan misunderstood his comments. Roddick had made statements about Novak Djokovic‘s Wimbledon participation during a Tennis Channel Podcast episode.

Roddick commented that Djokovic was trying to flirt with Wimbledon participation after a week of surgery. He was just extremely surprised by the Serbian dropping hints of playing the Championships right after surgery and the tennis fan had highlighted this on social media.

Following this, they backed it up with another comment of Roddick’s.

I was on the tour once upon a time, but I was not doing this. He is not like us. He is a little bit different. This is incredible and I can’t believe it.

‘The fan’ bashed the American tennis legend over this, which soon caught the eye of Roddick himself. Trying to clear the air around this misinterpretation, Roddick revealed that it was a Kendrick Lamar’s lyric and lashed out at the tennis fan for spinning his words of compliment into anger.

It’s a Kendrick Lamar lyric. He’s not like us means that he’s way better than us…. Was a play on words.  My god. There’s no winning a you all. You can spin compliments into anger. It’s absurd.

However, the argument did not stop there, as the two exchanged a few more words online about Djokovic and his video update. While the fan kept accusing the American of always targeting Djokovic, Roddick had to defend himself till the point where he stopped replying to the next comment.

Andy Roddick agrees with Eugenie Bouchard over having a longer grass court season

In a recent episode of the Tennis Channel Live, Andy Roddick and Eugenie Bouchard got the topic of Wimbledon stirred up with the host of the Channel. The Canadian player had suggested the grass court season to be a little longer.

Bouchard said that she would have loved to watch more tennis on grass, which would have been possible if they added a Masters tournament in between to extend it a week or two longer. Even Andy Roddick agrees with this.

I just don't understand it. Obviously, grass needs to be grown. It's a sensitive surface, but just on merit, it needs to be fair on different playing styles. I think grasscourt specialists have been underserved for a long time
Andy Roddick said

Despite Wimbledon being regarded as the most prestigious tennis event, the other tournaments on grass do not hold much prestige. Although there were some talks about doing the same in 2021, no action has been taken so far and grass still remains as the shortest season.
