Andy Roddick praised Novak Djokovic after he won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Open. The Serbian beat Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets to achieve the feat.
From the get-go, both players gave the fans what they wanted. Every single game they played was intense and not one went by without an incredible shot from either or both of them. While Djokovic kept Alcaraz on his toes, the Spaniard fought back with the same intensity.
The only difference came in the tie-breaks. In the first one, the first six points were split equally between the two. However, the Serbian secured a couple of mini-breaks to win the first set. The second set tie-break was a little more straightforward for the Serbian, who sealed the match 7-6(3), 7-6(2).
After the win, Djokovic expressed his emotions on the court. He fell to the ground and cried uncontrollably before running up to meet his family and coaching staff in his box.
Andy Roddick took to social media to state that he was pleased with Djokovic’s effort and congratulated him.
The willpower. Cant explain the effort I just witnessed from Nole. GOAT. To get one last chance, tell everyone what your priority is, and the deliver against the current best. Emotional stuff. Lucky to see it. Props

With the win, Djokovic became only the fifth player to complete a Career Golden Slam — winning all four Grand Slams and the Olympic singles gold.
Novak Djokovic stuns Carlos Alcaraz to complete career Golden Slam
The singles leg of the Paris Olympics came to an end on Sunday (August 1) with Novak Djokovic beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final. It was an incredible victory for the Serbian who got his revenge for the back-to-back Wimbledon losses.
It was also a moment of satisfaction for the Serbian, who prioritized the Olympics all year. He did not win a single title heading into the Simmer Games and despite a troublesome knee, he beat the best in the game to secure a maiden gold medal.
Having won the bronze medal in 2008, he had dreamed of the gold since then and finally won the elusive medal in Paris.
