I don’t wanna hear your chirping about clay versus hard versus anything else. Iga is gonna win a handful of Grand Slams on surfaces that aren’t clay. She just will, she’s 23. Oh, by the way, while she’s trying to figure that out, she’s gonna win like five French Opens. So save it, everyone’s better on one surface. It doesn’t mean that the Grand Slams count any less. So save that s**t. You can have that.

The 23-year-old was aiming for her first Australian Open title and her fifth Grand Slam trophy. She had a strong tournament, winning her first five matches without dropping a set and losing only 14 games. Roddick, the 2003 US Open champion, defended Swiatek against critics who doubt her ability on hard courts. He also praised her strong performance in Melbourne.

The WTA Tour will take place in the Middle East, featuring a WTA 500 event in Abu Dhabi and two WTA 1000 tournaments in Doha and Dubai. Other events include WTA 500 in Linz, WTA 250 in Singapore and Cluj-Napoca, and later in the month, WTA 500 in Merida and WTA 250 in Austin.

Sabalenka has only 10 points to defend since she did not play in Abu Dhabi or Dubai last year. She lost in her first match in Dubai after getting a first-round bye. Swiatek, however, has many points to protect as she won the Doha WTA 1000 event and reached the semi-finals in Dubai, earning 390 points.

Gauff will defend 225 points after losing early in Qatar and reaching the quarter-finals in Dubai last year. Meanwhile, Jasmine Paolini lost in the first round in Linz and Doha but later won her first WTA 1000 title in Dubai.
