American tennis legend Andy Roddick does not limit his opinions to tennis and tries to chip in with important points about the USA’s political happening as well. The former World No. 1 did the same when US President Joe Biden came up with three necessary reforms to strengthen the public’s faith in the country’s Supreme Court.

Biden has suggested that there should be a term limit for Supreme Court justices. He also suggested that the rule allowing former Presidents to enjoy immunity from prosecution, the rule which is being leveraged by Donald Trump, must be amended because “no one is above the law”.

The third reform suggested by Biden talks about a binding ethics code for the Supreme Court. This suggestion for reforms prompted a response from the citizens, including Roddick. The former tennis ace showed his support by asking questions to those who did not want to endorse these reforms.

I’m seriously asking both sides. Who’s against term limits? Who’s against a code of ethics for the highest court? And who’s against rules that prevent presidents from being above the law? And why? Be specific

Andy Roddick also cleared his stance about the term limit proposal and extended his support to the potential reform.

American President Joe Biden proposed these reforms to the Supreme Court while talking on the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act in Austin on Monday (July 29). He spoke about the need to implement these reforms to regain people’s lost trust in the country’s judicial system.

The first and foremost proposal from Biden was that a term limit be put on the justices of the Supreme Court. Biden suggests that an 18-year limit must be introduced. He also advocated for a binding ethics code that would govern the function of the apex court in the country.

On the constitutional amendment to limit Presidential immunity, Biden said that it was a necessary step to prevent the abuse of power. This statement comes after Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump used this immunity to his advantage in the recent Hush Money trial.

After President Biden had proposed these reforms, a poll from August 2023 showed that most American citizens were in favor of a term limit for Supreme Court justices. However, the chances of the reforms being implemented in the current term look bleak as Congress is evenly divided and there are less than 100 days left for the elections.
