Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic met an unfortunate accident after his second-round match at the 2024 Italian Open as a metal water bottle fell on his head. As the 36-year-old was signing autographs for his fans following a dominant win over Cotentine Moutet, a metal bottle fell on his head leaving the tennis ace injured.

Djokovic was rushed to the hospital and had to take medication. While the Serbian has confirmed that he is doing fine now, the tennis fraternity was left worried about the incident. Former American tennis ace Andy Roddick also shared his views on the incident.

He called it unfortunate and said that he was happy to see that Djokovic was not severely injured. Andy Roddick also talked about speculations that claimed that someone deliberately dropped a water bottle to injure the player. Nevertheless, the American was relieved to find out that it was just an accident.

Novak Djokovic is fine!

Novak Djokovic was at the receiving end of an accident but fortunately for him, it was not that severe. While it looked really bad as the player was down on the ground for 20-30 seconds before going out of the court, Djokovic revealed that he was doing fine.

The tournament also issued a statement to clarify the incident and claimed that it was not a cause for concern. They talked about the mishap and claimed that the player had gotten the necessary treatment and had returned to the hotel.

Novak Djokovic was accidentally hit on the head by a water bottle while leaving the Central Court at the end of his match while signing autographs for spectators. He has been subjected to the necessary medications, he has already left the Foro Italico to return to the hotel, his condition does not cause concern.
The Italian Open said in a statement.

Djokovic himself assured everyone that he is doing fine and will be back for his match on Sunday. Notably, the Serbian ace faces Alejandro Tabilo in the third-round match. The 24-time Grand Slam champion is eyeing his seventh title in Rome and also looking to gain momentum before the 2024 French Open.
