Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou was full of praise for Liverpool ahead of a much-awaited encounter between the two sides. The Australian manager hailed the Premier League leaders, claiming that they have been the ‘standout’ team this season.
Liverpool have enjoyed their redemption under new manager Arne Slot this season. They remain on top of the Premier League table, with 36 points from 15 matches. The Reds are currently on a 20-match unbeaten streak, and have also consolidated their position on top of the UCL table. Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham on the other hand, have struggled to keep pace. They remain a dismal 10th on the EPL table, putting immense pressure on the Australian boss, who had promised to win a title this season.
Ahead of a crucial EPL encounter between the two sides, Ange Postecoglou made his feelings clear. He stated that Spurs would be playing their own style of football, as it has helped them win matches. Moreover, he praised Liverpool manager Arne Slot, for settling in immediately after the Jurgen Klopp era. Additionally, the Spurs boss praised the Red’s brilliant display against Fulham, despite going a man down in just the 17th minute. He stated that the club has been a ‘stand out’ team in the competition.

Interestingly, Liverpool will also face Tottenham in the EFL Cup semi-finals in January next year, in a two-legged encounter.

Reds boss Arne Slot recently stated that he is supporting Tottenham to win a trophy this season, owing to a rather exciting brand of football they have been playing. However, Spurs under Ange Postecoglou have been receiving sharp criticism, as they remain behind in the EPL title race.
Despite the scrutiny, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot admitted that he is a huge fan of the Australian manager. He added that Postecoglou’s approach and identity makes it appealing, owing to the fact that Slot is from the Netherlands and has experienced such playing style in the past. He hoped for the London club to win a major trophy, the Europa League primarily, this term.
They’ve always been a certain brand of football for me and have a certain identity. I think Ange gives them that identity back completely. I also hope that he wins a trophy – not the League Cup.
