Since the establishment of LIV Golf, several top names in golf have left their tours to join them on big-money deals. However, there are some who do not want to join them even on lucrative deals. One of them is DP World Tour star Angel Ayora, who has shockingly rejected them.

As per Spanish media outlet Ten Golf, the 20-year-old declined to leave his tour and join the Saudi-backed tour on a two-year deal. He was offered to join Martin Kaymer‘s Cleeks Golf Club as a part of the deal.

As per reports, LIV Golf offered him a deal after a spot opened up in the Cleeks GC team. Kaymers’ teammate Kalle Samooja, who played the entire 2024 season with them, had a disappointing campaign.

He would finish in the 49th spot in the season rankings. This saw him getting relegated, which has left the Cleeks GC one member short of now. Despite earning less than $330,000 in 2024, Ayora has made his decision and will not join the PIF-funded tour and Cleeks GC.

In 2024, Ayora played in 24 Challenge Tour events and made cuts in 21 of them. He registered six top-10 finishes which included two runner-up finishes and one victory. These performances saw him graduate to the DP World Tour. He recently took part in the BMW Australian PGA Championship and the Australian Open as well, finishing T6 and T23 respectively.

Reacting to the news on X, some fans hailed the young golfer. There were though some who seemed surprised by this decision, as going to LIV Golf would earn him a good amount. One fan even questioned what was the need for this, as LIV Golf is looking to have a separate merger deal with the DP World Tour as well, similar to their deal with the PGA Tour.

Recently, Martin Kaymer made it clear that he will not be waiting for the LIV Golf Promotions event to conclude to fill out his roster. With Ayora rejecting this move it now remains to be seen who joins him Richard Bland, and Adrian Meronk in the Cleeks GC roster.
