Michael Porter Jr. has been on a run where he has been talking about several controversial topics, most of which many current or former players would try to avoid.
After his trade from the Denver Nuggets, the 27-year-old has been revealing things about his former teammate, Nikola Jokic, even suggesting the Serbian is his basketball GOAT.
Then, the Brooklyn Nets star courted some controversy over comments about his vice as well as that of his banned brother, Jontay Porter. The 6′ 10″ forward does not seem to bother about narratives and has been speaking his mind.
The only time he decided to re-address a narrative was when he talked about how high school boys’ basketball teams can defeat a professional WNBA squad. That led one former women’s basketball star to say this:
If you notice real quick, the elites, Kobe, don’t say this kind of stuff about us. He never did. He only uplifted us and supported us. Bron doesn’t talk like that. Why don’t the elites talk like that?

Angel McCoughtry does not understand what Michael Porter Jr. is trying to accomplish by belittling women and the WNBA. She believes he is looking for some praise, as he can dunk and has elite athleticism.

She says NBA players load-manage for headaches, while WNBA players deserve credit for being able to drop 40 on their period, come back to play after pregnancy,… pic.twitter.com/SXbRRJpszj
More importantly, the 5-time WNBA All-Star believes the elite players, such as LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and others, do not belittle the women. Rather, they uplift women.
What did Michael Porter Jr. say that enraged Angel McCoughtry?
When Michael Porter Jr. was on Ball in the Family podcast alongside fellow NBA star Lonzo Ball and his now-rapper brother LiAngelo Ball, the former touched on a point that the senior Ball brother made about playing against WNBA stars in high school.

I’ma go, probably, 8th grade because I have real experience doing this ’cause I played my sisters. They went to University of Missouri, and I was still a young dude, and they had me playing on the scout team, and they had a few WNBA players on their team, like, Sophie Cunningham, and a couple others. I think I was in the 7th or 8th grade going dumb. So, I have real-life experience.

He did say that he hopes the conversation surrounding men vs. women basketball players stops, as there is enough proof that the former are better.
Angel McCoughtry reminds Michael Porter Jr. of the hardships WNBA players go through and still play
After that clip of Michael Porter Jr. went viral, fans had mixed opinions. On one hand, many were quick to suggest that the NBA champion was right in what he said.
On the other hand, many felt he was disrespecting women. Angel McCoughtry decided to detail what women in the WNBA go through, which men do not have to.
When I got to come and drop 40, and I’m on my period, and I’m bleeding, and my stomach hurts and my back hurts, when y’all load manage off a headache… Let’s talk about how awesome it is that women we have these babies, and we come back and still dominate sports… Yeah, you can dunk. A lot of us can’t do that. We are wives. So, it’s not easy to take care of a husband and kids and come and dominate a sport.

She believes that men, who do not have to go through all these things, end up load managing while earning millions. They cannot do a lot of things that women do. Hence, it is not a straight comparison.
