Angel Reese understood first-hand what it takes to earn millions at the young age of 23, as the Chicago Sky star continues to establish her brand across the country and possibly the world.
For someone who did not grow up with much money and has seen her mother work hard to raise her and her younger brother, Reese has come to appreciate and take advantage of the opportunities she can find. She has gone on to earn $9.4 million in the 2025 calendar year, a significant amount for a WNBA athlete, where her peers earn a paltry 5 or 6-digit salary.
Knowing how much hard work she has had to put in to earn that money, the rebounding phenom asked Pastor Mike Jr. if he would rather have $10 trillion or 10 minutes with Jesus. He replied:
Give me the $10 trillion. Imma give Jesus 10%. Me and Jesus good. I’m with Jesus all the time. He walks with me, he talks with me, he tells me I’m his own. He don’t want to set $10 trillion. Give me them $10 trillion, Imma be on the altar Tuesday.

When he first said that he prefers the money and would give a percentage to Jesus, the answer left Angel Reese in stitches. Then, when Pastor Mike added that if he gets the money, he knows that Jesus wanted him to have that money.
That would inevitably bring him closer to God, as he would be in Church every now and then. The entire time Angel Reese was listening to this, she kept signalling the ‘tea’ signal, possibly as she was ecstatic with Pastor Mike’s reply. As someone who leans on her faith through triumph and tribulations, this logic of handling both sides of material benefits and being close to God interested her.
Angel Reese asks Pastor Mike how to balance faith as athletes
Angel Reese has time and again been vocal about how she leans on her faith. While speaking with Pastor Mike, the rebounding phenom asked how athletes can balance their busy lives while being close to their families. He replied:
I wish one of my dream jobs I can do. I wish athletes would bring me in to talk to their family and friends. I wish the moment Angel blew up, she would come to house and like, ‘Hey, this is Pastor Mike Jr. He has something to say’…I would tell them to keep God first.
The gospel singer added that those discussions with friends and family are important in everyone’s lives. He referenced Reese’s time at LSU, where she was living in an apartment, earning money, which her friends were accustomed to.
Now, as she has moved into a bigger house and while earning a lot more, her friends and family have to be on the same page, especially if the Chicago Sky star wants them to be alongside her as she continues to grow.
Otherwise, Pastor Mike believes that relationships start to change, mostly for the worse. He believes it is important that everyone close to her also grow along with her, as that is how the relationships stay the same no matter what Reese’s life state is.
Angel Reese wants Pastor Mike to baptize her
Of late, many athletes have been renewing their faith, and one of the ways to do it is to get baptized. As one who has been keeping God beside her as she navigates through her life as a basketball player, a model, a businesswoman and giving back to the community, Angel Reese said this to conclude this episode of Unapologetically Angel:
Hopefully we can meet in person. Hopefully, I can come to either Alabam, or you can come here so we can get baptized.
This means the 23-year-old wants to renew her faith soon, and is ready to do it whenever she can make the trip to Alabama, where Pastor Mike’s Rock City Church, in Birmingham, Alabama. Or she would wait to see if the pastor visits Chicago, where Reese can be baptized at home.
Either way, the Maryland native is possibly looking at getting it done during this offseason. She will be busy when she and her ‘Young n Turnt’ Team USA squad travel to Puerto Rico in March to battle other international teams in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

She would be playing alongside rival Caitlin Clark, friend Paige Bueckers, and a host of other young and experienced players. The primary focus of those games will be to build chemistry, as most of the younger lot have not played with each other in a long time.
