Both WNBA stars, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, started their 2nd WNBA season against each other as the Indiana Fever took on the Chicago Sky on home court. In their season opener, it was Clark that came out on the victorious side against Reese. During the game, Clark and Reese were involved in a heated on-court moment, and that surely made headlines.
In order to stop Reese from taking a shot in the third quarter, Clark shoved her to the ground beneath the basket, committing the foul. Following the review, Clark received a flagrant 1, and both she and Reese received technicals because players from each team had to separate them. Initially, Reese was left annoyed with Clark’s foul, but after the game she downplayed the situation, giving the refs their fair share of credit on the call.

Notably, Clark’s teammate Aliyah Boston was also issued a tech in the process, something that she was unaware of. During the post-match presser, Boston came to know about the tech she received by the refs and was left stunned. Clark enjoyed her teammates’ reaction and also chimed in to de-escalate the fiery moment.
Have fun paying that fine
Caitlin Clark jokingly said
Aliyah Boston had no clue she got a tech during the Caitlin/Angel altercation lmao

In addition, when ESPN’s Holly Rowe questioned Clark about the play, the 23-year-old said that she didn’t mean any harm when she chose to foul Reese hard. Instead, she claimed that it was ‘basketball play,’ something that Reese also agreed upon after the game.
Aside from this, to prevent being pushed around, like she occasionally did during her first season, Clark established a point to strengthen herself throughout the offseason. Throughout the game, Clark finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. She put in a match-winning performance alongside Boston to get the Fever’s season up and running.
Caitlin Clark made WNBA history in her side’s win against the Sky
A lot of attention was on Caitlin Clark and her Fever side going into their season opener against the Sky. NBA legend LeBron James was also present to see the Fever star in her 2nd season. Luckily for her, she did not disappoint James, her fans, and many of her well-wishers. Instead, she dropped an all-time performance on the Sky, making some WNBA history in the process.
Clark finished the game with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, but that’s not all. According to Underdog WNBA, she also recorded two steals and four blocks, making her the first player in WNBA history to have such a stat total. This showcases the mentality she has instilled coming into her sophomore season.

Her outstanding performance in the team’s season-opening victory put Fever supporters in a state of shock. Notably, the Fever now have a 4-1 record versus Angel Reese and the Sky since the 2024 WNBA season began. Before facing the Atlanta Dream on May 20, Clark and company will take a few days off.
Caitlin Clark made her case clear on the Angel Reese foul after the game
Fever star Caitlin Clark played down any possible drama involving her and the Sky star, Angel Reese. The 23-year-old Clark argued that it was a wise move when questioned about the flagrant foul she performed upon Reese during the Fever’s 93-58 thumping victory against the Sky in Saturday’s season opener.
Let’s not make it something that it’s not… It’s just a good take foul. Either Angel gets wide open 2 points or we send them to the free throw line. Nothing malicious about it…Every basketball player knows that!

In addition, as mentioned above, Reese also admitted to Clark’s recent words, claiming it was ‘basketball play’ after the game. On the other hand, Clark talked candidly with ESPN earlier this week about how she feels more at ease in her second season in the WNBA than she did in her first season after a successful season at the University of Iowa.
