Most women’s basketball fans have either been talking about Geno Auriemma and Dawn Staley‘s bust-up. Or, they are discussing the Atlanta Dream’s trade for superstar forward Angel Reese.
While the earlier incident has brought a cloud of unnecessary attention to the college game, no one was prepared to hear about the 23-year-old’s move to a new team.
After all, the Chicago Sky maintained they would not trade their best player, following her apology to her teammates and avoiding any further controversy.
In fact, she did not even ask for a trade. Yet, the franchise felt it was better to nip this problem in the bud and sent her to Atlanta in exchange for two first-round picks.
Now that she is officially a member of the Dream, fans would generally expect her to link up with her new teammates. Instead, the Maryland native was busy working with one of the brands she recently tied up with.
After Angel Reese created history by becoming the first professional athlete to walk the famed ramp at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York, her fans knew that it was the start of a long collaboration.
Basketball is gonna stop one day. It’s important to have your own narrative and be able to take control of that.

This was the Dream superstar revealing what her mother and grandmother had always told her. Even though she could create a two-decade career in the WNBA, she wants to make sure that she has something to fall back on, and that is by campaigning for the global lingerie brand.
Angel Reese is excited for her next chapter with the Dream
Angel Reese shot her campaign for Victoria’s Secret in Barbados before arriving in New York to present the campaign with the brand. When E! News caught up with the 6’3″ forward, they asked her about her move to the Dream.

I’m excited for this new journey and for this new city.
Angel Reese said
This might sound like an obvious reply, but the beaming smile revealed how excited she is to leave the tumultuous situation in Chicago behind.

She did create that incident after she criticized her teammates and the organization. But little did she know that she would join a championship-ready team such as the Dream.
Before this move, it was reported that the Chicago Sky might only consider a trade to another struggling franchise, as they need top draft picks to continue retooling the squad.
But it seems that with the 2026 Draft and free agency opening this weekend, they did not want to waste any more time and took whatever they could. At least, it has worked out well both for Angel Reese and the Dream.
Angel Reese was not even well-known three months before winning her college championship
While some delusional Angel Reese fans debate on how she is more popular than Caitlin Clark, and how she is the reason for this surge in women’s basketball, ESPN’s Holly Rowe remembers how no one was talking about her while Clark was always in the headlines.
Three years ago, we were getting ready to have our very first college gameday show on ESPN. There was a young woman playing basketball that I thought was playing at such a high level and nobody was giving her any attention.
Holly Rowe revealed on Show Me Something
After realizing that this basketball player needed to be talked about, the ESPN women’s basketball expert revealed what she had to go through to get a feature on this player.
So, I did an NBA game in Utah, did a redeye flight, and I slept on the floor at the Atlanta airport… So that I could get the 7:00 AM flight to the location where I would do the interview with this young woman. I did the first-ever feature on her… Three months later, Angel Reese won the national championship.
Holly Rowe continued to reveal

It is commendable that Rowe would go to this extent to get a feature. But thanks to her, the world knows who Angel Reese is and how she has established herself as one of the better players in the league.
