“Put two women against each other” Angel Reese downplays beef with Caitlin Clark amidst rising hate in WNBA
Superstars Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have been competing against each for years before reaching the WNBA.

Angel Reese suggested it is just competitive basketball between her and fellow WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark
Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have moved the needle when it comes to bringing unprecedented popularity to the WNBA. But throughout their phenomenal rookie season, fans often pitched the duo as rivals. They even went as far as to suggest the duo hated each other.
But Angel Reese clarified that it was the Indiana Fever fans who pushed this agenda. That suggestion gained further proof when players from other teams talked along the same lines. Clark even condemned those fans who targeted her opponents with racist threats.
However, it is also not a secret that the Chicago Sky star and Caitlin Clark have been battling since college. Their competitiveness turned to the extreme during that 2023 NCAA Championship game. Reese was asked about her rivalry and the existence of any personal beef on a public episode of 360 With Speedy.
It’s been competition since college. Social media is going to put two women against each other. I don’t think it’s just her fans, I think it’s fans in general. Knowing that, it’s just basketball. I promise you, it’s just basketball. I don’t have any hard feelings towards her. She doesn’t have any hard feelings towards me.
Angel Reese on rivalry with Caitlin Clark
The WNBA rebounding phenom did mention that the two have been playing against each other since high school. But their competition in that college championship game fanned the flames of the beef narrative.
Angel Reese was on the Complex and was asked about Caitlin Clark. I will 100% give her props here for how she answered the question about if she gets hate from Caitlin’s fans. Would love to see more WNBA players echo her sentiment. #WNBA #Feverrising

She reiterated that she knows there is nothing between them but also knows that the creation of that rivalry has helped women’s basketball. But at the same time, social media takes it too far when pitting one woman against another.
Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark may not play against each other in Unrivaled League
If the Unrivaled League was not starting in January, fans would have had to wait for the next WNBA season so see this rivalry resume. That is because Angel Reese is going to be a part of the upstart league that will play out till March.
Ever since its inception, many speculated that the WNBA Rookie of the Year will eventually line up in an Unrivaled jersey. Those speculations were fueled when it was reported that the league was going full swing in trying to sign her up.
However, so far, nothing has materialized. With only three spots remaining, time is running out. Only two spots remained when they announced the teams. However, Kesley Plum withdrew, leaving the league to sign up three more players before their season starts.
Some fans still have hope that Clark will eventually play. But with the NBA All-Star three-point contest around the same time, it looks increasingly unlikely. That means fans might have to wait to see the Clark vs Reese battle resume next May.
