Angel Reese gets ejected in game against New York Liberty

Angel Reese is in the news again. After talking about being one of the reasons many new fans have started watching the WNBA, she landed in a spot due to her own doing. The Internet took the chance to call out the Chicago Sky star after she was ejected in yesterday’s game.

Late in the 4th quarter, Angel Reese was already hampered by 4 personal fouls. But on a missed shot, she tried to go for the rebound, only to smack the New York Liberty star and former MVP Jonquel Jones on her hand.

The referee instantly blew the whistle for a foul. Reese, in frustration, talked back to the referee which led to her first technical foul. She then started to walk towards the basket but waved the referee off for calling the technical. The referee called a second technical foul on Reese which led to the automatic ejection.

This was Angel Reese’s first ejection in the WNBA. She did, however, secure her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. But she got into foul trouble early in the game, which cost her team valuable interior defense and rebounding. That led to the New York Liberty dominating the second half to run out winners.

Had Reese managed to stay clear of fouls, maybe she would have had a better impact for the Chicago Sky. More importantly, she could have kept her cool and avoided the ejection. Especially after telling the media the day before yesterday that she is also the reason women’s basketball is getting the eyeballs now.

Fans call out Angel Reese for ejection

Had Angel Reese not claimed that she is equally important as Caitlin Clark in bringing fame to the WNBA, maybe fans would have let this incident slide. But the timing of this ejection worked against her as social media was on fire with comments. Multiple sources uploaded clips of the incident and fans had a field day going after the rookie for not being able to keep her cool.
