Angel Reese earned a second straight WNBA All-Star selection this year on the back of her energetic play. The Chicago Sky forward, who started the 2025 season slowly, has gone on to show many improvements, especially on the offensive end. She has become a capable playmaker and has more ballhandling responsibilities under Tyler Marsh, who is using this season to improve her and Kamila Cardoso’s play.
However, what Reese routinely makes headlines for is her unabashed and open attitude. She is known to pursue what she thinks she deserves with aplomb. Her idea of turning the ‘mebounds’ taunt from her detractors into a shoe idea speaks volumes about her enterprising nature and her ability to shrug off bad vibes. More recently, she has been criticized for being outspoken about her WNBA peers’ pay demands.
Angel Reese has been made privy to the WNBA’s collective bargaining proposal. She feels that the outline of the league’s plan is nowhere close to what she and her peers deserve in remuneration. She wants to personally be involved in the negotiations and use her visibility and her brand to put pressure on the league offices and get them to yield to her and her peers’ demands. Speaking to USA Today on Saturday, she explained her enthusiasm for this:
This is for the next generation. It’s important to be able to be vocal. If i sit back, it looks like I don’t care. I know my voice and I know my platform. You love it or you hate it, I know it gets views. So I just know that I had to be vocal. I have to sit at that table one day.

In the absence of Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers have become the star on-court attractions at the WNBA All-Star Game scheduled for 8:30 PM ET on Saturday, July 19th in Indianapolis. Both Reese and Bueckers will be turning out for Team Collier in this exhibition game.
How has Angel Reese improved her play this season?
Angel Reese is currently averaging 14 points and 12.6 rebounds per game in the 2025 season. This marks a slight dip in her rebounding and a slight uptick in her scoring compared to her 2024 output. Angel Reese could very well have won Rookie of the Year honors, but she was in the same draft class as the generational Caitlin Clark, who set a record for total assists made in a WNBA season and won the trophy.

Reese was slow on the uptick at the start of this year, especially on offense. Despite working on her layups and her release point during the offseason, her efficiency was in the low 30s after the first 10 games. But she found a new wave of energy soon after the Sky strung a couple of wins together. She has been putting in work both as a scorer and as a rebounder, tallying five straight double-doubles in the week leading up to the WNBA All-Star weekend.
This season is a tanking year for the Sky, but not because they have a first rounder next year. The front office stripped down many of its assets in an attempt to bottom out and have few obvious ways of improving. The hope is that under head coach Tyler Marsh, Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso develop into the franchise players that they have shown to be capable of becoming in the next few years.
