Angel Reese came into her sophomore season intending to play better than she did last season. That intent started slow, but soon started to catch up as her performances helped the Chicago Sky win games.

The Sky won a few games, which gave hope to their fans that the team was about to turn a corner and surge towards the playoffs. In the midst of this, the 23-year-old’s developing point forward game also drew praise.

She went on to win Player of the Week honors that catapulted her to a 2nd All-Star appearance. A game later, the forward developed back problems, forcing her to miss a couple of games.

She then played another, but her back issues resurfaced, and the Sky shut her down indefinitely. After missing 7 games, the Maryland native returned.

That return saw the team play much better in a loss to the Seattle Storm. Buoyed by that, she and her teammates took the trip to New York to take on the defending champion Liberty.

From the start, the away team kept pace with the champions for 3 quarters, not allowing them to jump into a lead. Then in the 4th, Reese and her fellow Skyscraper, Kamilla Cardoso, dominated the paint, which gave the team the lead.

They ended the game with a much-deserved and impressive win. Angel Reese finished the night with a 21-point, 10-rebound, and 3-assist performance. Only Cardoso had better numbers, as the two bigs ensured their team got back the feeling of winning again.

Fans praise Angel Reese and call out her critics

Before her injury, there were a couple of games where Angel Reese’s critics felt her bad habits returned and that her mid-season performances were just a phase.

This time, fans asked where those critics were, as the LSU star’s performances helped her team power to a win over a team that, despite their injury woes, was still winning against lesser opponents.

Reese’s Sky will not make the playoffs for a 2nd season in a row. But this performance had fans believing the future is bright for the Chicago-based franchise.

They now had a player to depend upon, and along with Cardoso, were proving to be too dominant. If they keep this up, fans believe the Sky can finish the season on a high. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Angel Reese has always clapped back at critics with her performances. However, she continues to be the subject of ridicule, especially when she tries too hard and struggles to get layups in.

In this game, the 6′ 3″ forward shot a respectable 6-9 from the field. More importantly, her 1-2 game with Kamilla Cardoso shows the Sky can look towards game-winning performances down the line.

Since her Angel Reese 1 signature sneaker is set to come out next season, she and Reebok decided to start marketing it before the All-Star weekend.

The Maryland native decided to use the time to call upon the sneaker company, Chase, her sponsors, Reese’s, 2K, Beats, and many others to help 2000 students in Chicago.

They set up children’s play areas, mini basketball courts, and other entertainment forms as they gave away 2000 backpacks. The superstar was accompanied by her mother and those from her close team.

This comes after she unveiled two basketball courts in Chicago earlier this year. Reese wants to use her position to help as many people as she can.
