Angel Reese decided not to play in the second season of Unrivaled as she wanted to take time off basketball to rest and recover from the injuries she sustained in the WNBA.

Even though she attended USA Basketball’s training camp, her focus is on making it to the Team USA roster for the exhibition games planned at the FIBA qualifiers in March.

She will not be able to defend her Unrivaled championship, but it seems the Chicago Sky superstar had bigger plans when it came to her brand.

Skincare brand Topicals announced on Wednesday it has closed a round of funding with participation from the WNBA star Angel Reese and the Nigerian singer Rema, as well as other figures from the entertainment and sports industries.

This means the 23-year-old is upping her ante when it comes to investing in business ventures with brands she resonates with. For someone who loves to slay both on and off the court, a $20 million skincare brand seems to be a no-brainer.

Again, Angel Reese has claimed at Chanel’s fashion show that she loves fashion and has focused on collaborating with exclusive brands to continue her foray into that industry.

This is a Black-owned company, which means Reese’s focus continues to be on her community. After her recent philanthropic efforts, bringing a community-built brand will enhance her image as someone who connects with her people.

Angel Reese did not invest in Topical just as an opportunity

As has been evident almost every time Angel Reese is in public, the 6′ 3″ forward makes it a point to look glam. When Vogue asked her to record her makeup routine, the superstar started to reveal every product she uses.

I have the sleeping mask, this is the one I always throw in my purse. Gotta keep the eyes nice and fresh. So I use these, the topicals. I have the sleeping mask, this is the one I always throw in my purse. Gotta keep the eyes nice and fresh. So I use these, the topicals.

Throughout the 8:14-minute video, the Maryland native reveals all the specific products she uses. It was not a promotional video for Topicals, or any other skincare brand for that matter.

This points to the fact that Angel Reese has been using the product for quite some time. Only when she felt that they meant something to her and to those in her community did she invest.

That method of identifying opportunities echoes what her mentor, the great Shaquille O’Neal, follows. He ended up building a $500 million fortune. As Reese claimed, she is gunning for a billion.

Angel Reese needs $993 million left to reach her goal

With her goal set at becoming a billionaire, Angel Reese is continuing to make all the smart moves needed to reach that figure. It will take a while, as LeBron James became one at age 38 despite earning hundreds of millions a year.

The Chicago Sky star earned a little more than $9 million in the 2025 calendar year. That has helped her improve her net worth to $7 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth.

That means she still has $993 million left to go before she can claim that she has achieved her goal. However, while doing so, she has already accomplished some minor tasks along the way. Such as paying off her mother’s mortgage and buying a house.

If the LSU star continues on this path of investing in avenues she connects with, and her income increases along the way, it should not be long before her net worth starts to balloon.
