Angel Reese is going VIRAL for applauding teammate for cheap shot on Caitlin Clark
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been rivals from their college years.
Angel Reese is going viral for applauding Chicago Sky teammate's cheap shot on Caitlin Clark in 1st matchup since college
Caitlin Clark getting bodied today at the hands of Chennedy Carter of the Chicago Sky has already sent ripple effects around the WNBA. But the game seemingly brought back the rivalry between Clark and Angel Reese, when videos of Reese and her gestures became viral on the internet.
The first clipping shows that as soon as Carter bodied Clark, Angel Reese stood up from the bench and applauded what Carter did. This is despite no presence of the ball on the court when Carter blindsided Clark. A second clip shows Reese hugging Carter with a smile on her face as Carter walks towards the bench. These two clips have been going viral suggesting that Reese was happy that her teammate took her anger against Clark out on the court.
But it does put the entire rivalry in a bad light. After all, Angel Reese had suggested that she was attacked by the fans and the media after her antics in the NCAA championship game in 2023. She also said that she did not hate Caitlin Clark.
But this as well as a recently deleted tweet suggests otherwise. It seems Angel Reese is perfectly happy to take on the villainous role again in the WNBA. On the other hand, the Indiana Fever superstar had a different take on what she felt about Reese.
Caitlin Clark has nothing but respect for Angel Reese
Before the game, Caitlin Clark was asked by reporter, Julia Poe about Angel Reese and how she has seamlessly brought her game to the WNBA.
The thing about her is like she's been so dominant at what she does ever since we played in high school. She's always had a knack for being able to rebound the ball and that's just translated immediately to the WNBA. Going and getting it, getting extra possessions for her team. Those are the little things that help your team win. I have a lot of respect for her.Caitlin Clark before the game against Chicago Sky
She feels Reese brings a certain tenacity to the game which has helped her team win 3 games already this season. That effort was also on display today as Reese grabbed a franchise rookie record 8 offensive rebounds.
Clark is taking time to adjust to the WNBA. However, it was Angel Reese whose game immediately meshed with that of her Chicago Sky teammates. With Kamilla Cardoso back from injury, the future of the Sky is bright. The twin towers of Chicago along with Carter and Marina Mabrey and Dana Evans form a solid young core.
They and Clark’s Indiana Fever seem to be the teams of the future considering their young cores. Plus, they are both in the Eastern Conference.
