Angel Reese entered season 2 of her WNBA career with the hope that success on the court would translate to success off it. She and her retooled Chicago Sky were supposed to be fighting for a playoff spot.

That goal turned moot early on when they struggled mightily in their first few games. In the midst of that 2-7 run, many felt the 6′ 3″ forward had not developed her game and was still reliant on her own rebounds to make shots.

Her lower-than-usual shooting efficiency, along with her rebounding numbers, seemed to add fuel to those claims, with some fans starting to coin the term, ‘Mebounds’, as a way to ridicule the 23-year-old.

In their 10th game of the season, Angel Reese recorded 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists, which marked the first time she had registered a triple-double in the WNBA

The Maryland native took the opportunity to clap back at her haters, revealing that she was taking the trolls back to their rightful place after she filed for a trademark to the term ‘Mebounds’.

Soon, she won the trademark and soon released custom merchandise sporting that word. This, along with her new Reebok signature lines, started to sell like hot cakes.

They tried to clown me for rebounds, and what did I do? I made it a bag off of it. Six figures plus. Thank you. So, y’all can try again, cause I do need another idea for some more colorways. So, just keep it coming.

Angel Reese reveals she played in 2nd season despite having surgery

Those first 9 games were a nightmare for the Chicago Sky, as other than the two wins against the bottom-dwelling Dallas Wings, they were outscored by an average of 20 points per game.

Angel Reese was also struggling mightily, scoring just 34% of her shots, and in her 2nd game, a lowly 2 points despite playing 27 minutes. While speaking on the inaugural episode of season 2 of her podcast, she said:

I didn’t finish the Unrivaled season, because I had to have surgery on my hand. It was a completely different surgery. That’s why I wore a brace all (WNBA) season… I started the season off with my hand wrapped. I wasn’t supposed to be ready for training camp.

The star forward revealed that even though her hand was wrapped, she wasn’t ready for her sophomore season. However, her mind was ready, and along with the support of those close to her, she played from the start.

Angel Reese shares her friendship with Paige Bueckers

In her 2nd season, much of the media’s focus was on Angel Reese’s rivalry with Caitlin Clark. Injuries to the latter dampened those narratives, even though they started hot.

Over the season, the media’s focus shifted to the Sky star’s friendship with Paige Bueckers. As the top two recruits of the famed college recruiting class of 2020, Reese reveals how her friendship with the Dallas Wings guard has evolved.

That’s my dawg. I love Paige. Me and Paige have been competing against each other since we were in high school… I’m really happy to do some stuff and be able to just continue to see her grow. She did a lot of great things in the league this year for a rookie. I’m excited to see my girl grow.

Considering their friendship and the recent situation that has engulfed Reese, there is a possibility the two could become teammates. It depends on whether the Sky finds the Wings’ offer compelling enough to part ways with their best player.
