Angel Reese had an illustrious college career as a basketball player. The athlete was among the most famous players from the NCAA tournament, but her popularity shot to another level after she joined the WNBA. Being among the most celebrated draft batches, Reese caught a lot of attention early on. The star has constantly reached new highs but Reese also had to sacrifice a few things. Her mother recently spoke about her drifting relationship with her daughter.
The seventh overall pick’s talent and skills on the court have made her life difficult off the court. Angel Reese shares a close bond with her mother. Back in the day, the pair would spend a lot of quality time with each other. The mother-daughter duo liked shopping and eating together. However, as Reese’s fame has grown, the player has hesitation while stepping out. Reese’s mother looked at it as the ‘biggest adjustment’ after the 22-year-old’s success.
I mean I’m like, Angel, come on, let’s just go out to eat. No, mom. And then sometimes I force you to do it. And then we’re out and I don’t realize how you bombarded with fans.

Reese’s mother reassured her daughter’s appreciation towards fans. However, she also shed light on the Chicago Sky star’s desire to have personal time with her parent. The pair wished for more fun time together like the old days. Reese spends most of her time now either playing basketball or promoting her brand deals. As the star is also living in Chicago, she is often away from her mother.

Despite the distance, the young player is making sure of her mother’s wellbeing. On the occasion of her birthday, Reese paid off her mother’s mortgage. Even if the star is unable to be in presence of her mother, the Sky’s forward is using her success the best way possible.
Angel Reese’s mother did not expect the pressure on her daughter
Reese and her mother have come a long way since her college days. When the 6’3″ forward was playing for LSU, Reese revealed that both she and her brother had to get scholarships to finish their studies. But the family’s life was changed after Reese got selected by the Chicago Sky. Her dominating talent got her an early ticket into the Superstars’ league.
Following Reese’s early draft selection, her mother anticipated the journey to get easier. However, the expectations were raised even more in the WNBA. The star was constantly compared with her peers and was easily criticized after poor performances. While talking about the expectations from her time in the new league, Mama Reese did not see the heavy pressure coming.
I don’t know what I would have expected to be honest. I knew there was a lot of pressure on you. And again, it’s funny because you were pick No. 7. Somebody who usually drafted No. 7 does not have a lot of pressure. So, I don’t understand.

But fortunately for the mother, Reese is doing well for herself after her debut season. From All-Star selection in rookie season to playing in the Unrivaled League, the 22-year-old has added several accomplishments. The criticism has not vanished, but Reese has her focus on the game and improvement.
