Kamala Harris and Angel Reese

Due to their increased popularity, it’s normal to find athletes crossing the divide to engage in political activism, but not Angel Reese, who in a recent interview was bold enough to not delve into the conversation. She was asked to comment on Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential run.

Angel Reese‘s response to the topic was to admit she wasn’t educated on the topic, and instead asked people to vote. This smart response from the rookie ensured that she didn’t speak on something she wasn’t familiar with.

I haven’t been able to tap a lot into the political election and everything going on. I’m not educated right now but just continue to learn and give feedback. Everybody go out there and vote! I recommend that.
Angel Reese said in a recent pre-game interview

Her comment was well received as Riley Gaines Barker, a former swimmer and now a political activist, praised her response. Barker, who is a well known supporter of former President Donald Trump, found common ground with Reese’s approach to political discussions.

Reese admitted she wasn't educated enough to insert her personal opinion, but encouraged people to exercise their constitutional right to vote regardless. I respect this answer a lot. Kudos!

Reese’s response stands in contrast to other high-profile athletes like the Golden State Warriors duo of Steve Kerr, who gave a “night-night” speech, and Steph Curry, who have both endorsed Kamala Harris. Fans would be excited to see that the Chicago Sky star is focused on her basketball as she plans to nick the Rookie of the Year award from rival, Caitlin Clark

Angel Reese however took to social media to show her support for former First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech at the convention. Obama’s fiery speech endorsed Kamala Harris and took shots at Donald Trump.

Furthermore, Reese’s post on X indicated that she felt what Mrs. Obama had said in her speech. But she stopped short of an official endorsement of Harris’ candidacy.

However, Reese and the Chicago Sky occupy the 8th and final spot on the WNBA overall rankings with an 11-16 record and are 1-2 since resuming from the Olympic break. She’s currently at 13.6 PPG, 12.3 RPG, and 1.7 APG in her rookie season.
