Angel Reese could not start off her sophomore campaign in the WNBA in the manner many hoped she would. Her fans expected her Unrivaled performances to have a bigger impact for the Chicago Sky in their hopes of running towards the playoffs.
9 games in, and the Sky were out of playoff spots after starting a miserable 2-7. Reese’s scoring performances were not able to lift their retooled roster to wins, and neither were her rebounds or defense.
She did manage to rack up some double-digits, but neither of them helped the Sky win. Then there were the single-digit scores that frustrated her own fans as others continued to troll her. Most notably, were her rebounding numbers, which many believed were a result of her own misses.
On top of that, fans and members of the media wondered if the 23-year-old’s lack of developmental work stemmed from a busy schedule promoting her brand. Now, after notching her first career triple-double in a convincing win over the Connecticut Sun, Angel Reese decided to clap back.
Whoever came up with the ‘mebounds’ thing. Y’all ate that up because rebounds, mebounds, crebounds, keybounds… anything that comes off that board, It’s mine…The trolling, I love when y’all do that. The trolling, I love when y’all do that.

The 6′ 3″ forward loves it when they troll her, as she knows that is because she looks ‘cute’. She is also not worried about anyone slandering the brand, because she does not care. Moreover, she clarified that all the rebounds that show up on her box score are hers, statistically, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
Hailey Van Lith helps Angel Reese clap back at critics
Angel Reese usually does not step away from clapping back at her critics. After this triple-double performance, the 23-year-old had the ammunition to go after her trolls. Then she took another step and brought in teammate Hailey Van Lith to shoot a TikTok.

I was like, why are you so obsessed with me.

As soon as they lip-synced these lyrics, Mariah Carey‘s Obsessed played in the background. It was their way of telling their critics that they are too obsessed with the two former LSU and current Chicago Sky teammates.

It is more so about Reese, as HVL knows all too well how her teammate becomes a target for social media trolls. Back then, possibly the Maryland native had to handle it on her own. Now she has the support of Van Lith and her veteran teammates, along with Cardi B and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Angel Reese and Sky can start winning and moving up the standings
Some might say that winning against the Connecticut Sun was not a great feat to be celebrating in this manner. However, they also forget that for a completely retooled team, being coached by a 1st-time head coach, and running schemes which Angel Reese and some of her teammates are not used to, it is still a big win.
In sports, winning cures everything, and this win should give the squad some hope that they are on the right path. They can try and win the next game against the Washington Mystics to continue moving up the ladder.
The season has not reached the quarter mark. Therefore, whatever wins they can get their hands on, the better. These wins can help boost confidence, something that will be extremely important when they head into the deep end of the season.
